Your Bread Just Got Healthier Thanks to Mandatory Folate Fortification

According to a study by researchers at the Institute of Haematology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, and  published in the Medical Journal of Australia, the prevalence of folate deficiency in Australians has significantly reduced since the introduction of mandatory fortification with folic acid of wheat flour used in breadmaking. As an Australian with a growing family, who is a chiropractic health care professional, I backed this wheat supplementation when it first came into public awareness and governmental consideration. With the overuse of our farmlands, I believe that it is essential to supplement many naturally health ingredients such as wheat, oats, and barley. So I am quite gratified by these excellent findings.

It is my opinion that our government here in Australia is at its best when it creates health benefits for its citizens — especially those that are naturally good for we, humans!

The Medical Journal of Australia is a publication of the Australian Medical Association.

Spinal Manipulation vs Spinal Mobilization Makes Good Horse Sense

I have to say, mate, that chiropractic works and not just for the human musculoskeletal system. In fact, because horse owners so frequently turn to chiropractic care as a remedy for equine back pain, and chiropractic manipulation works so well on horses with back pain, that a new study was developed to compare the effects of two different types of chiropractic techniques, spinal manipulation and spinal mobilization.

The results of the study demonstrated that manipulation and mobilization both increased spinal mobility. According to the study, SMT causes the spine to move beyond its normal limit in range of motion, while mobilization usually is only effective within the normal range of joint motion. While mobilization produced consistent delayed increases in spinal mobility or flexibility between treatment sessions, SMT achieved immediate therapeutic effects. Such SMT displacement effects lasted between treatment sessions, whereas mobilization effects did not.

But, the bottom line is that chiropractic works and is effective in a variety of techniques, not only on horses, but on humans, too! So, giddy-up, and see your chiropractor today!
